Warminster celebrates as the Lake Pleasure Grounds wins a Green Flag Award

Green Flag Award - Photo 1
After 18 months that have seen our parks and green spaces play a vital role for people through lockdowns as a place to relax, exercise and meet friends and family safely, the news that the Lake Pleasure Grounds, Warminster has achieved the Green Flag Award is testament to the hard work and dedication of the team that make the green space a great space that everyone can enjoy.
Chair of Warminster Town Council’s Parks and Estates Committee (which looks after the Park) Cllr Sue Fraser said, “I am very pleased that for the fourth successive year that we have been awarded the Green Flag. The Town Council staff, councillors and volunteers work hard to ensure our Town Park is something we can be immensely proud of. The public too play a huge part in maintaining the Lake Pleasure Grounds by treating it with respect and valuing the marvelous facility for everyone. I offer my warm thanks to them all. The Park gives great pleasure to all who visit and is a haven for wildlife. The beautiful setting, the peaceful atmosphere and yet plenty of activities are a winning combination. It is probably the best park in Wiltshire. During the trials of Covid19, the Park has been a lifeline for people’s physical and mental health.”

Cllr Fraser continued, “People can continue to support the Park over the winter months by visiting the Pavilion Café at the weekend and buying a drink or snack. People can see for themselves the progress on the new splash pad which will open next year and soon there will be a new trim trail with a lava theme. We will not stand still when it comes to making the Lake Pleasure Grounds better every year.”

Commenting on the news that the Lake Pleasure Grounds has achieved the Green Flag Award standard, Green Flag Award Scheme Manager Paul Todd said: “I would like to congratulate everyone involved in making the Lake Pleasure Grounds worthy of a Green Flag Award.”
“To meet the requirements demanded by the scheme is testament to the hard work of the staff and volunteers who do so much to ensure that the Lake Pleasure Grounds has high standards of horticulture, safety and environmental management and is a place that supports people to live healthy lives.”
